Long hikes to alpine forests and lakes

High lakes and alpine areas require advanced permitting and planning but are worth it!

Well, once you hike a long way into the forest around here, you’re gonna end up in the high lakes and alpine areas.

High alpine lakes

The high lakes offer breathtaking clear lakes surrounded by towering old growth timber. Expect steep hikes through dark forests with plenty of switchbacks and rough spots. Depending on where you end up you may also get a lot of solitude.

Alpine areas

So cool. We get very used to being in the trees around here, and trees are cool, but well, you don’t get much of a view.
The alpine country, with snow fields, meadows of wild flowers, blue lakes, and endless views is a definite change of pace for us.
